Technology Transfer
Intellectual property--the inventions of MSU faculty, staff and sometimes
students--is managed in accordance with federal law and the policies of the
Montana Board of Regents of Higher Education.
Follow this link to read those policies, which cover conflict of interest,
consulting and other issues.
A number of different forms exist for the inventor, such as the invention
disclosure form, materials transfer agreement and a standard research
agreement.
The Technology Transfer office assists faculty with the disclosure, patenting and
licensing of processes, products or creative works that may have commercial
potential. It also seeks sponsored research from private industry and helps
outside users gain access to University facilities, services and
specialized equipment.
Confused about the many aspects of technology ownership, protection, and
commercialization? Take a look at the movie of our intellectual property training seminar for faculty given by Becky Mahurin, the university's Director of Technology Transfer, or try Patents Corner, a series of columns written by
Becky.
