Research translation support

 

This program is designed for graduate students as they explore how they could make an impact from their research and/or passions. This program is a suite of three, one-hour sessions and completion makes students eligible for a $200 scholarship. Additionally, those with an idea can transfer into the Builders' program, which comes with eligibility for further internal funding.

Open to all members of the MSU community with an idea, the Builders' program helps those looking to translate their research to impact and move their project forward within a community of peers. This program comes with internal funding opportunities to help push the project forward.

Supported through the Catalyst Hardware and Tech Incubator, led by the TTO office with financial support from QCORE, this program features a co-working space, prototyping lab, and wraparound business services to help startups launch and grow. It specializes in technology-driven companies.

Innovation Funding is available to MSU faculty and staff aiming to directly advance promising MSU research toward translation for the benefit of society. This funding also supports programming efforts under the NSF ART award as sponsored by NSF.

These funds are available through 2027 through the NSF ART award and current fundraising is under way to make this critical program permanent and sustainable.

SBIR/STTR assistance is brought to you by the Montana Innovation Partnership program, led by the TTO through TechLink, this program helps early-stage tech founders compete for federal research and development funds through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs – America’s Seed Fund! The program serves the whole state and runs on a continuous basis.

Open to anyone in the MSU community (faculty, students, staff, etc.), this program pairs up innovators and teachers with industry volunteers who have committed their time to sharing their expertise and mentoring innovators.

This certificate provides undergraduate students (non-business majors) an opportunity to better prepare themselves to start their own business or non-profit organization. Additional coursework is available as well.

Designed for MSU students (both undergraduate and graduate), all ideas are welcome in this annual pitch competition with potential to earn a portion of $10,000 in awards!

Each semester the MSU Launchpad awards a limited number of microgrants (up to $1000 each) to active student ventures to develop their ideas. Successful applicants must provide and demonstrate the use of 100% matching funds.

Taking place each spring, this annual competition is open to MSU-sourced ventures in the following tracks: Social Impact, Deep Tech or University based research and Traditional Venture. Over $100,000 is awarded to competition winners and all finalists work with experienced entrepreneurs, investors, mentors, and more.
